No need to go to the shops – Here’s some remedies to use that probably already have in your kitchen or garden!
These remedies are very simple – sometimes when we are sick we forget that we have exactly what we need already in our own homes!
THYME – dried or fresh from the garden – infuse 1 tsp. in a small teapot with boiling water for 5 minutes. Strain, flavour with some raw honey and drink. Thyme is antibacterial antimicrobial and will kill off those nasty bugs in the throat and respiratory system
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR – Make sure its one that contains the Mother! (The Mother is the sediment you see floating in the bottom of the bottle) Mix 1 Tbsp. of vinegar with 1 tsp. of raw honey and a cup of hot water. Sip to soothe a dry irritating cough. It will also help to rid the body of mucous and alkalise your system.
RAW HONEY – Local is best! Honey that has not been heat treated and processed. Mix in a drink with some lemon juice, ginger or apple cider vinegar. Honey has antibacterial and antiviral properties.
EUCALYPTUS OIL – Have an inhalation with some eucalyptus oil. In a heatproof bowl on a bench, add some boiling water and 2-4 drops of eucalyptus oil. Place a towel over your head and lean over the bowl of steaming goodness. Breathe in deeply for 5 minutes, making sure the steam doesn’t escape. The antibacterial and decongestant properties of Eucalyptus oil will do you wonders. You can also use a vaporiser and add a few drops of oil, and use in the bedroom at night.
FENUGREEK SEED – In a saucepan, add 1tsp. of fenugreek seed per cup of water. Bring to the boil, then allow to simmer for 10 minutes. Strain, flavour with honey, lemon or ginger if needed and drink (It is quite bitter). Fenugreek is wonderful for clearing the mucous from the lungs and sinuses
