6 EASY TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR DIGESTION –
#1 – First thing in the morning squeeze the juice of a lemon into a large glass of warm water, and drink. This will alkalise your system and stimulate your liver to cleanse itself. *Remember your liver plays a large part in helping to digest your foods. It will also stimulate your bowels to move
#2 – Take time out to sit down and enjoy your meal – never eat while on the run, in the car or watching TV. Focus on the foods that you are putting in to your body, think about how they are nourishing you, all of the nutrients they contain, and where they come from.
#3 – 10 mins before a meal, put 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar in 1/3 glass water and sip – this will stimulate the production of your digestive enzymes. Make sure the Apple cider vinegar you choose is not filtered or heat treated, and contains ‘The Mother’, which is the active ingredient.
#4 – Include some bitter salad greens at the start of your meal in a salad – Rocket, watercress or radicchio. These greens will stimulate production of your digestive enzymes. The herbs Dill and Fennel are also excellent for digesting your food.
#5 – Avoid drinking too much water or other fluids with your meals. Sipping water is OK, but large amounts will dilute your digestive enzymes, making it hard for your body to break down the foods you are eating. *Always drink room temperature water, not chilled.
#6 – Chew your food properly – chewing your food produces saliva and enzymes to be released in the mouth which start the process of your digestion. The more you chew, the easier it is for your body to break down your foods and digest all the nutrients
